UB Football

Last night was the very first nationally televised football game for University of Buffalo. They've been a division III school and they have moved up to a division I. I had never been to a game and James, in his 4 years of attending school there, has only been to one before. So we decided to go last night, since it is free to students. But I'm sure I could have splurged for the most expensive tickets, which were $15. The football game reminded me of going to games in high school. There was a track around the field, the seats are all benches, and it's complete chaos. We went with Jimmy C and Rick. We met up with Nick Mendola the local radio announcer and sat with him. Jonah came and tailgated with us but he is a sports reporter for the newspaper so he got to sit in the warm, cozy, comfy seat press box. It was a good night for football, not too cold, but a little chilly. I had an amazing stadium hot dog and some hot chocolate. It was a really bad crowd turn out though. The stadium holds 35,000 and only 16,000 showed up. And probably 1/3 of the people left at the beginning of the third quarter. UB ended up winning the game and me, James and Jimmy rushed the field with all the students. James had to help me jump over the railing cause of my bad ankle. We ran around the field for a while with the players and the band. Then when we got back to the cars James realized he lost his keys while on the field. So I had to go back to the house to key his spare set, luckily I put them away so I knew where they were. Now he gets to go to the dealership and purchase another key for $110. Good ending to the evening.

I didn't take the following pictures - James stole the camera from me.

Happy Halloween

A couple days before Halloween me and James decided it was time to carve our pumpkins. I went with the traditional weird faces while James went with a more complex witch cut-out. I carved three pumpkins in the time it took him to do his one pumpkin. It came out really well, I was very surprised.

On Halloween night we went out downtown to the Town Ballroom. I dressed up as a Charleston girl with Corinne and Kristin. James dressed up as Will Ferrell's character from Semi-Pro, Jackie Moon. He even grew his hair out a little bit so it would be more "fluffy". If you didn't know, James had hair down to his shoulders in high school and it was so curly. He will not be growing it out like that again. His shorts were too short and I tried to convince him to wear more underneath but he said if he did that he wouldn't be "in character". Whatever. We had lots of fun!

That's me!

Jaimete Vinilliams 10-25-08

I know this is a little late coming but on the 25th of October my little sister Jaime got married to Pete Williams. Now I knew Pete previously from my stint at Payson High School and he wasn't the nicest person to me, but when they came to visit this past summer he was very nice. It was a short trip for me, I flew in on Thursday morning and left Monday afternoon. When I got to the airport in Utah the man at Enterprise was flirting with me and gave me his number (ha ha) and was going to give me a "luxury size car" but I declined and said I just wanted the mid-size since I drive a Honda Civic. Thursday night was Jaime's shower with the fam. My aunt Shirlene had it at her house and it was fun to see everyone! Friday was the rehearsal dinner at Los Hermanos in Lindon. It was amazing. I ordered a side of guac for myself and I ate it all. I love guacamole. Saturday was the big day. In the morning I got my hair did by Girl, who does amazing work. Then Jaime and I had our makeup done by the girls at the Mac counter at Nordstroms. My girl had a fake tattoo on her chest, which was funny, but weird. That evening they got married at the Cedar Hills golf course. It was very pretty. I had not been in that area since we lived in PG when I was in 5th grade. It had changed so much but the Purple Turtle was still there! It was fun to see the fam and be a part of the wedding. Congratulations to Jaime and Pete. Thank you to Aunt Shirlene who made Jaime's dress, all the bridesmaid's dresses, and Pretty Princess Luci Mei's flower girl dress. And thank you to Ashley, Ryan, Josh, Les and Andrew for coming, it was good to see you guys!!

My new BFF

I love Top Ramen, who doesn't. After I eat it I feel sick to my stomach and my heart hurts, but it's so good going down. I'm sure it's the 910mg per package that makes me feel ill. And who can beat the price of $.10 per package. That's a whole meal for $.10! And you feel so sick afterwards you'll skip the next meal and save money. Just kidding. No really, it's happened. So I was at Tops the other day grocery shopping and I saw this new addition to the Ramen area. It's called "Choice Ramen". It's a little bit more expensive, $.33. But the sodium is cut in half to 480mg, still not good but much better, and there is only 1g of fat in Choice Ramen and 7 in Top Ramen. I just ate it and it is sooooo good, plus my heart doesn't hurt and I don't feel like vomiting. I've only had the chicken flavor so far. One of the draw backs of Choice Ramen is that they only had chicken and beef flavor. They did not have Creamy Chicken or Roast Beef which are my favorite Top Ramen flavors. Anyway, Choice Ramen is my new BFF and I highly recommend trying it.
PS - I want to give a shout out to my cousin Mindi who introduced me to Top Ramen by making at least 6 packs at a time while she would baby-sit us.

Sunday Tailgating

For the past three weeks people with Time Warner haven't been able to watch CBS or the CW because they couldn't come to an agreement so CBS pulled the stations. Since me and James were smart enough to have Direct TV (it's so much better) everyone has been coming over to our house to watch the Bills games but they have been at 4pm. Today was the first 1pm game in three weeks. My dumb Italian friend, Jimmy C, decided that he wanted to host a party today, but at my house. He definitely sent out an e-mail inviting everyone. Luckily, a lot of people were going to the game so only our good friends came over. I had a hair appointment at 10am and James had to work at 7:30am so I had to leave the door open for Jimmy. He decided to have his own tailgate party in my driveway. When I got home, Jimmy and Carter had their chairs out listening to pre-game. I joined them for about an hour and then James came home and we started to watch the game. But the power at the stadium went out and the broadcast was cut off. So we had to go back out to the parking lot and listen to it on the radio. The only reason we got to listen to it on the radio was because an announcer called the station from his cell phone. Crazy day, but the Bills won, thanks to the star quarterback Trent Edwards. And the defense showed up this week. Here's some pics of our fun Sunday afternoon!

Carter is very confused. You can see Milton the scarecrow in the back!
Not sure why this is happening but it's Raider's paintings.

My project

Ever since I went to my aunt Shirlene's house last year and saw the vinyl lettering on her wall I've wanted some too. I waited a whole year to go back to Utah to buy this lettering. I went to Robert's Crafts and purchased this stuff and made room in my suitcase for three of them. Well I get back home and go to JoAnn's here to buy something else and I see these damn vinyl letterings. I looked everywhere for a year for those stupid things. So I ask the JoAnn's lady how long they have been selling them and she replies with "Oh, about 2 months". Craptastic. Well I finally got around to putting up the first one this weekend. But I was waiting for my stars to come from Overstock.com (my new favorite shopping place). Here's some pictures of my fabulous art work...

I heart Dunkin Donuts

In the newspaper about a month ago I received a coupon to Dunkin Donuts that was free coffee every Wednesday until October 15th. Since I already loved Dunkin because they are delicious, I was very excited to use the coupon. Every Wednesday since then I went and got my free coffee. I was very sad this morning when I realized today was the last day of free coffee. I went to Dunkin and they asked me to hand over my coupon. I was hesitant and asked the boy if he would give me another one with another expiration date on it. He said no. Instead, for everyone that came in today with their coupon they would give a coffee thermos to. That's right, I got a free thermos. And every time I take it to Dunkin I get it filled for only $.99!! And that's why I heart Dunkin Donuts even more. I am trying to get everyone on board for Dunkin Donuts and to give up Tim Horton's. I hate Tim Horton's! They always have such long lines. It's like they have crack in their coffee and all the crack addicts are lining up at all times of the day for their stupid coffee. If you want coffee from there in the morning you will have to wait at least 15 minutes. Down with Tim Hortons. I love Dunkin!
