Fun, fun and more fun...

This past week was packed full of fun. Jaime and Pete had come to visit us. They started their trip off well by bringing me Taco Time burritos. They flew in last Tuesday morning and that night they watched me kick ass in my softball game. I had a couple good hits but according to James they were “too good for a girl”. Riiiight.
On Wednesday Jaime and Pete drove an hour and a half to Palmyra. I had already been there so I stayed and worked for the day. Driving that long to see a big hill wasn’t too appealing to me. On Thursday we drove into Canadia to do all the Falls stuff on that side since Jaime has already done all the stuff on the American side. Plus the Canadia side is better even though I hate Canadians because they come down to shop and they drive like they’ve fallen asleep at the wheel. We did the Journey Behind the Falls, the River Walkway, the Maid of the Mist, and walked along Clifton Hill (which I would describe it as an amusement park on a street). Of course I needed to visit the Hershey store to get my chocolate covered marshmellows. After all that we headed back to the US to go to the buffet at the casino and to lose another $60 because the Wheel Of Fortune slot machine hates me even though I love Wheel Of Fortune.
On Friday we dragged Pete to the Outlet Mall of Niagara Falls. It was only for 3 hours so he survived. That night Jaime had her first fish fry and we went to the Bison’s baseball game.
Saturday we drove back up to the Niagara River for the Whirlpool Jet Boat Tour. It’s a big boat made for 20 people and they drive you up the river to the Whirlpool that can suck you down to the 300 foot bottom and kill you. But after that they go back down in the class 5 (class 6 is the highest) rapids and you get soaked. It was awesome! It’s $60 a person so we won’t be doing that again soon.
Sunday we went downtown for the Taste of Buffalo where Jaime and Pete got to see some of Buffalo’s finest people. Not really though. I think people crawl out of their holes for events like this. But the food was good. Later that night we went to Canal Fest along the Niagara River. It is held in North Tonawanda which is known breeding ground for some very white trash people. And it lived up to the hype. Why do some people feel it’s ok to wear shorts that look like underwear when you are over the age of 40? I’m not sure either. We rode the Hydro-Bike’s down the river and almost got hit by a few boats.
Monday we went back up into stupid Canadia to African Lion Safari. It’s basically a big zoo that you can drive through. But you don’t want to take your own car because the monkies like to rip shit off. Which we saw while we were there. Then some rhino’s decided to run across the road and charge the giraffes. It was a good time but again some of Canadia’s finest were out in full. All in all it was a good trip and we had a lot of fun. Here are some pictures below. Beware, there are a lot!

Thanks Jaime & Pete!

Jaime came to visit yesterday. She and Pete were kind enough to stow away in their carry on the greatest food on the planet, Taco Time. Words cannot express how I feel about Taco Time. When I worked there I gained 20 pounds in two months because I would eat a Crisp Chicken Burrito with a side of ranch and loaded mexi-fries (covered in cheese). Delicious. They brought me two Crisp Chickens, four Crisp Meats, and four Crisp Beans. Amazing. I HEART TACO TIME!!!!
Doesn't this look sooooo good?

I <3 the 80's

I was inspired for this post by the 80's Bash/Party I went to on Saturday night. (Which I have posted some pictures below). When I first heard about it I had to have tickets. Ever since then it has consumed me. I even downloaded 80's songs to make a playlist on my ipod. My favorite decade by far is the 1980's. I loved everything about that radical decade. The bright, mis-matched colors. The excessive, ridiculous accessories. The tights, the lace, the shoes, the skinny ties, the suspenders, the tight stonewashed jeans, the one hand glove, the white suits, the wicker shoes, . I wish I had been old enough to fully embrace the 80's. To deal with this void in my life I constantly watch movies from the 80's. Here is a list of my favorite movies, if anyone wants to check them out:
Pretty in Pink - I love Molly Ringwald and Andrew McCarthy
Sixteen Candles - I'm saving myself for Jake Ryan
The Breakfast Club - My favorite was the crazy girl Allison
Mystic Pizza - Nobody knows what's in the pizza
Teen Witch - I'm hot and your not, top that.
Girls Just Want To Have Fun - A young Helen Hunt and SJP rock this one out.
Back to the Future - I'm George, George McFly, I'm your density.
Can't Buy Me Love - Patrick Dempsey was just as cute when he was younger
Beetlejuice - Michael Keaton plays a good Beetle Juice
The Worst Witch - Mildred just can't do anything right
Big - Tom Hanks is really good at playing a kid in an adult body
Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure - I would love to ride around in a phone booth
Working Girl - Tess McGill is one hellava secretary
Weekend at Bernies - Another Andrew McCarthy movie, I love him
The Burbs - I love when they get in the car to take the garbage to the curb
A Christmas Story - I double dog dare you.
Dirty Dancing - Nobody puts Baby in a corner
Cocktail - Tom used to be so cute
War Games - A young Matthew Broderick getting himself into trouble
Uncle Buck - Is Bug his first or last name?
Ghostbusters - Dr Egon Spangler
Ferris Bueller - Ferris Bueller you're my hero
Fast Times At Ridgemont High - Sean Penn plays a great Jeff Spicoli
Gooines - Goonies never say die.
Troop Beverly Hills - I want a patch in shopping
Space Camp - I love Tate Donovan and Leah Thompson in this. They are so young.
Tremors - I know it's stupid, but I like it.
Top Gun - Maverik and Goose can fly me in a plane any day of the week
Mannequin - An early Kim Catrall film
Jumpin Jack Flash - I usually think Whoopi Goldberg is annoying but this is funny

Say Anything - Oh Lloyd
Trading Places - Dan Akroyd looks awesome in a dirty fur coat
Little Shop of Horrors - Feed me, Seymour!
Mr Mom - Michael Keaton really knows how to tame a vacuum
Teen Wolf - How could not want Scott and Boof to get together?
Stripes - That's a fact, Jack.
My Step Mother is an Alien - There is some sort of snake in her purse
Never Ending Story - My favorite was Atreyu
Raising Arizona - Nicholas Cage and Holly Hunter steal a baby cause they can't get pregnant
The Secret To My Success - Michael J Fox gets seduced by his aunt
Overboard - A Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell favorite

Risky Business - A Tom Cruise favorite. I love the dancing scene.

80's Bash!!!

Niagara On The Lake

My friend Kelly at work, my cube buddy, has a membership to a wine tasting club in Niagara On The Lake, Canada. She was nice enough to invite me, Kristin and Corinne to a day of free wine tasting. Niagara On The Lake is just across the boarder just past Niagara Falls. There are vineyards everywhere, of course. It's so open and relaxing. So Friday we took off work and drove over to Canada and had some fun wine tasting. We went to two winery's in the country and then went into town and visited one on Main Street. Then we went window shopping and had lunch.

Kelly and her "special" members pin which = free wine

Canadians like to display their flag everywhere. They're idiots.

Nerd-ory = Nerd + Laboratory

I realized the other day that I am a really big nerd. I like to write lists, make schedules and make spreadsheets. In the kitchen we have a big white board calendar that has our monthly schedule on it. It's mostly for James since he can't seem to remember from day to day what time he is supposed to be at work. I also have a list going at all times on some sort of piece of paper. I have a day planner, a calendar on my desk at home and I'm obsessed with using the calendar in our e-mail program, Office Logic. Which is not as good as Outlook, but it's not like I have a choice. But what pushed me to believe that I have reached a high level of nerd status is the fact that I made a spreadsheet, with links to websites and the whole deal, for my sister's trip to Buffalo. It includes what we are going to be doing each day, along with those places websites. There is also a separate tab for "possible places to eat". I'm pathetic. When James thinks I'm being too nerdy he will tell me to "Go back to the Nerd-ory".
You can't see it to well, but this is my "schedule spreadsheet"

This is our whiteboard calendar so James knows what's going on...

This is my pink ribbon day planner...

This is the inside of the planner where I keep EVERYTHING.

Kar Karma

I now believe that I have the worst karma when it comes to cars. I came out from work yesterday and some dumbass had hit my white car door with their red car door. It is so noticable and I'm sure the person just shut their door and drove to another parking spot. And I know that it happened between the hours of 2pm and 5pm because it was not there when I went to the bank at 2. Ugh. Here are some other instances of my car karma:
1. My first car was a stick shift. As I'm driving to school for the first time I kill it in the middle of the busiest intersection before the school and people are honking. Not cool.
2. A couple weeks later I get my first flat tire while I'm at school. I have to go back into school and find someone to help me change my tire.
3. I locked my keys in my car at least 4 times.
4. Someone doesn't lock my passenger side door and my CD's are stolen.
5. I hit another car in the mall parking lot because they are going the wrong way down the isle.
6. I put my car up for sale because I'm finally making enough money ($7/hr) to buy my own car. It's bought by Mexican's that don't speak english and I'm at home by myself.
7. My new car "Big Green" has a paint problem and starts to develop "cancer spots" on the roof.
8. I have many, many mechanical problems with Big Green. There is much money that is spent fixing it.
9. I've been stranded at 7-11 multiple times. The workers at 1300 East and 4500 South knew me by name. I ended up just leaving my car running in hopes that someone will steal it. No such luck.
10. I rear end a Ford Escape. No damage is done to their car but mine has a nice square hole right in the middle of the grill and the hood is bent up.
11. I buy a new Honda Civic that is a stick shift. I get yet another flat tire. The people at Dunn tire end up F-ing it up because their worker doesn't know how to drive a manual and I end up having to take it to the dealership, where they look at me like I'm retarded and don't know how to drive a manual. Nope, I do. Talk to the dillholes at Dunn Tire, whom I heard say they couldn't drive a manual, then they deny it when I call and yell at them.
12. I get rear-ended in my new Wanda Honda on an icy, snowy road.
13. My rental car is a damn mini-van.
14. My car is still not fixed after I get it back and have yet another craptastic rental, a Cobalt with no power locks or power windows.
15. On Monday, hail the size of golf balls makes nice, little, round dents in the top of my car.
16. This stupid red scratch.
17. One day James decided to put my keys in his pocket and go to school, leaving me at home to freak out and tear the house apart looking for my keys, realizing that my spare set is locked in the glove box. I had to call my friend at work to come get me. I ask James where my keys are and he denies knowing where they are. Ten minutes later I get a call apologizing that the guinea pig had put my keys in his pocket. Yeah, ok.
